Vicki Heymann
I grew up in South Africa. It was good happy years and I have many fond memories of those times. I grew up in a Christian home and was taught at a young age that the Bible is the final authority in my life. That is how I still live my life. I married my husband Marius in 1985 and have two children, Jacobus (23) and Ingrid (21). I am a Physical Education High School teacher and had the privilege to also teach Bible Studies to years 10 – 12. I loved the challenge, especially the discussions that these young adults came up with. I developed a lot of respect for how grounded they were in their thinking and was surprised that they all believed in conservative rather than liberal values!
In 2002 we migrated to Australia. We lived for 6 years in Newcastle, NSW.During our time in Newcastle, we joined a Spirit-filled, Word teaching charismatic church. The pastors, Marty and Margot McCrindle, gave me the opportunity to preach and run some faith courses. This developed me into a confident teacher of the Word and I will be forever grateful to their support. We had a powerful fellowship group under the leading of John and Jenny Edwards which challenged and stretched us week in and week out in the things of God. I count these times as precious and privileged.
I did casual teaching while my children attended school and when they finished their schooling I decided to stop my teaching career altogether.
In 2008 we moved north to a small town, Bulahdelah. God blessed us with a property five kilometres out of town. It is a peace haven and we enjoy the awesome varieties of birds and the occasional Kangaroo grazing on our grass.
I started to write this, my first book, in this beautiful setting.
My book was born out of my own need in making the lifestyle that God offers through the death of His son, Jesus Christ, a reality in my own life. I needed an anchor against the storms of life, but could find nothing to help me with it. I could only find the meditations that new age and eastern religions offer, but I wanted something from the Bible.
As I was contemplating this problem, especially after seeing many seasoned Christians wafer in their faith walk, the Holy Spirit told me to write a practical study book on meditation. He said that too many Christians have their heads full of knowledge. That is the reason for their stumbling. Faith works through revelation and from the heart, whereas they operated from information from their heads.
This is exactly what “Break Through and Break Free: How to use Bible Meditation to turn Head Knowledge into Revelation Knowledge and Receive what you Believe for” is. It is a workbook full of exercises and homework. I practised on myself and it works! I am so excited about this book and believe that every Christian alive should read it.
Through meditating on a specific scripture, revelation is obtained through the help of the Holy Spirit. He guides, teaches, opens up and clarifies the scriptures in a powerful way. I found that once I received revelation, my life changes from striving to obtain what God has for me, to rest. Just rest in God and His integrity and wait on Him to break through in whatever area I need.
Jesus is truth and life. He died to give me truth and life. My wish is that this book will give every reader of it, truth and life. All to the glory of God.
